Volunteer Applications can be submitted in one of three ways:

Volunteer EcoHouse Interpreter Tour Guide
EcoHouse is a unique environmental education demonstration building operated by Green Venture in East Hamilton.
Description
- To provide EcoHouse visitors a guided tour of the indoor and outdoor demonstrations
- Providing valuable information about the property’s history and tips on living sustainably.
Time Commitment
- One Saturday morning (10-1pm) or afternoon (1pm-4pm)/month year round

Special Events Volunteer
Green Venture participates in numerous community events across the Greater Hamilton Area including fairs, festivals, conferences, symposiums, open houses, workshops, neighbourhood celebrations and more. Through display booths and information tents we run activities, provide information, network and engage the public.
Description
- Assist with set-up and take-down, greet people, facilitate activities, answer questions and provide information about Green Venture’s various programs.
Time Commitment
- 2-6 hours per event, Sunday – Saturday, mornings, afternoons & evenings

EcoHouse Indoor/Outdoor Maintenance Volunteer
As a public education facility and historically designated building, EcoHouse requires regular maintenance in order to provide a quality learning environment for visitors, staff and volunteers.
Description
- General EcoHouse chores which include but are not limited to dusting, sweeping, maintaining demonstration areas, snow removal, lawn mowing, weeding, organizing supplies, leaf raking etc.
Time Commitment
- 1-4 hours/week, any day of the week Monday – Saturday between 10am-4pm

Community Garden Volunteer
The Green Venture Community Garden is an exciting program that engages citizens from across the city in discussions, workshops and interactive programming related to pesticide-free food gardening, eating locally and other sustainable urban agriculture practices.
Description
- Research and program development
- Garden maintenance (i.e.: seed starting, planting, pruning, watering, harvesting, etc.)
- Attend monthly meetings, event planning, website updates, developing and delivering children’s activities, etc.
Time Commitment
- 2-6 hours per week, Monday – Sunday (hours flexible), February- November
Qualifications
- Problem-Solving/Reasoning/Creativity, Teamwork, Planning/Organizing, Willingness to Learn, Analytical/Research Skills, Communications Skills (listening, verbal, written)
Anti-Idling Volunteer
Description:
- Helping to get people on board for anti-idling campaign
- Assisting staff by distributing flyers and information to schools, cars, and pedestrians
- Coordinating Commuter Challenge in Hamilton
Time Commitment:
- 2-4 hours per month (flexible)

Garden Writer
Description:
- Write articles about gardens (200-700 words)
- Interview people with gardens
- Do research about different garden (ways to benefit from the garden to help the consumer and environment)
Time Commitment:
- 4-8 hours a month (flexible)
