Renewable Energy Generation

Renewable Energy Update:

Ontario's Renewable Energy Standard Offer Program (RESOP) is being replaced by the Green Energy Act's Feed-In Tariff (FIT) program.  Along with a change in name comes a large increase in the amount of money offered for solar energ, meaning that solar producers (could be you!) will be receiving 80.2 cents per KWh.

The cost of energy for residents of Ontario is roughly 6 cents per KWh, residents with solar panels will be selling their solar energy back to the grid for about 13 times the cost of energy.  Simply by producing solar power, what would have cost 6 ecnts can be sold to the grid for 80 cents.

In November 2007, Green Venture launched "A Good Start", a renewable energy demonstration project funded through the Ontario Ministry of Energy's Community Conservation Initiative.

EcoHouse will be home to a small wind turbine generator and small solar panel array, generating electricity to assist us in our power needs. An inverter will be located in the display area of EcoHouse, for visitors to see how much renewable power EcoHouse self-generates.
